Hi. Welcome to Reza's blog.

At least one page of a book each day

I have always liked reading books. Bookshops and libraries are my favorite places. I like to hang out there, pick up books, leaf through them, and read a few pages of each to find an interesting title. I could spend hours in a bookshop or library just browsing. Books fascinate me and make me wonder what kind of person I would be after reading each one.

Each time I leave a bookshop or library, I wish I could read more. My reading habit is modest. I do not read a lot of books each year; I would say on average maybe 10 to 12.

Some weeks I do not read even a page. In those weeks, my attention is drawn to other media; an interesting personal blog, a newspaper or magazine, or an interesting topic I do some casual research about on the internet. And then it feels very difficult to get back to reading books again. I lose the momentum and have to build it back up.

If I want to read more books, I should make it a part of my daily routine. I should maintain the momentum. In 2026, I will experiment with a new strategy: reading at least one page of a book each day. Other media don’t count. It has to be a book. Reading a page doesn't take much time—maybe 2 to 3 minutes—so a lack of time or energy can't be an excuse anymore.

I know most of the time, I will end up reading more than one page. But the start barrier feels smaller. And hopefully I will take a book to read more often whenever I have a few minutes free time, instead of going to my phone.

I know that most of the time, I will end up reading more than one page. But the barrier to entry feels smaller. And hopefully, I will reach for a book to read more often whenever I have a few minutes of free time, instead of checking my phone.
