Hi. Welcome to Reza's blog.

Imperfect posts feel more human

Reading unknown personal blogs has been one of my favorite activities since before joining Bear Blog. These days, the Discover section is the place I go to often on Bear Blog to find new blogs and read posts from random people.

Most of these posts are written by amateur writers, just like me, who enjoy writing a few words occasionally to discuss a recent idea they had or talk about what is generally going on in their lives. The texts are not professionally written and haven't gone through many loops of professional editing to articulate the ideas in their best form.

This is what I like about personal blogs; the unpolished texts and not-perfectly articulated ideas. I like posts that feel personal. They remind me that there is a real person behind those words, a normal person who is trying to communicate their thoughts with those words.

Posts and texts from many influencers and famous "content creators" are not appealing to me anymore. My problem is that they are too perfect, too polished. They are written to persuade. I cannot say if there is any value behind the main idea of the text because it is packaged with perfect wording and optimized to be convincing.

AI lowers the bar for writing such "perfect" texts even further. Just try to write a few incoherent ideas and sentences, give them to an AI, and ask it to rewrite them to be "convincing," "authentic," or whatever you want. And then you will see what I mean.

I want to read articles that feel personal, that are not perfectly written. From the flaws and shortcomings of the texts, I want to feel the difficulty and friction the writer went through. They remind me how difficult writing can be.

One of my favorite bloggers recently wrote his first short story. I haven't read the story yet, soon I will do. My biased opinion is that I will like the story for all the reasons I talked about here.
