My thoughts on AI
There is a lot of hype arround AI. All the big claims that make a FOMO feeling, if you don't start using AI now, you will fall behind. And once you start to get more engaged with the topic, you get the feeling it is not enough not matter how much time or effort you put in. You will fall behind anyways.
In the end, much of these is only hype and noise. But it is not easy to really engage with AI and follow what is happening without getting caught up in the hype. Becouse of this, I was trying to avoid all the AI related information and news.
I realised recently that I do not hate AI itself, but I hate the way many companies and individuals try to exploit it without any meaningful added value. I am actually curious about AI, and want to learn more. How it works, how I can use it in my daily life and at work. Even maybe making some cool tiny projects with it.
I'm sure there are many others like me who are curious and try to educate themselves and others about real added value AI brings to us and our society. The problem is their voice are drowned out by louder ones making big empty claims.
Avoiding AI is not the correct answer to cope with the hype. Rather, I should try to be critical, distinguish among the hype and realistic fact-based information, and find trustworthy sources to follow. I don't need to keep up with all the trends and latest tools. It's enough to educate myself about the topic and discover how AI can support me in my daily life and work as an individual.
