Take time to absorb the information and ideas.
When confronting a new and interestong piece of information or idea take some time to think deeply about it. Do not just suffice with your automatic judgement. Look at it from different angels. Think about it the slow way. How this can be true? Can it also be wrong? Disassemble its different parts and assumptions from each other, examine them separately, then build the parts together again.
It is a slow proces to think and analze the information in such deep. In the information age we live, it feels counterintuitive to get slower at digesting new information and ideas while constantly getting exposed to new sources of knowledge everywhere. At work, at school, at home, while driving or taking train. Nobody is able to process and digest all of these information.
In some occasions, we are expected to be decisive and act fast. But it is not an excuse to shift to autopilot always.
Take an idea that you care a lot, or you find most interesting. Get intentional and critical. Analyse it, and create a version that better reflects your opinion.
With time, you get better at analyzing ideas critically. You deal better with complexity. You will learn how to think.
